This was my submission to the Let's Paint New Mexico blog this month.  Placitas is a quaint little village on the north side of the Sandia Mountains by Albuquerque, NM.  It's such a sweet and peaceful place, not far from Albuquerque, but like another world away from the hustle and bustle of the large city.  I always dreamed of building an adobe home and retiring there to paint and live in the beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

This is my submission for February's Virtual Paintout Blog using photos from Google Street View.  It is Camino Real in Valparaiso, Chile.  I had fun painting the bright red fence and buildings against the dark green backdrop of trees and the curvy road.

Pond at Adam's Ranch by Marcy Brennan

Pond at Adam's Ranch - 5" x 7" watercolor and ink on paper - $25

I painted this piece last Saturday at Adam's Ranch.  Each year, the owners open 1100 acres of their ranch to local artists to come out and paint their beautiful land.  I scouted the whole area and took loads of pictures for painting later before settling on this little pond created by a sulfur springs.  I set up in a nice wooden pole hut that overlooked the pond. The smell of the sulfur water took me back to my grandmother's farm in northeast Florida.  So the peaceful setting, perfect weather and reminder of my grandmother made for a perfect afternoon of painting!

This painting is my submission to the Let's Paint New Mexico blog.  This was such a fun painting to do - I love painting vintage autos!  The late afternoon sun cast some wonderful shadows and the play of lights and darks made this almost paint itself ;-)  This is on some country road in New Mexico.

This painting is for submission to the virtual paintout blog.  This month's location was the Isle of Mann, an island located between Ireland and England.  Wonderful, tidy homes and beautiful rolling hills with sheep dotting the countryside.  It's a place I would love to visit someday!  This scene is on B35 between Douglas and Crosby.

This is my second painting for the Virtual Paintout blog for December.  I love old buildings and when I was "walking" around Nitra in my virtual trip via Google Street View, this old building stopped me in my "virtual tracks".  ;-)  I love the angle of the building and the beautiful complimentary colors of blue and orange.  The church in the background was simply perfect.  I had fun with the sky colors - it says happy morning to me!
