Hanky Panky - Original Abstract Acrylic Painting by Marcy Brennan

"Hanky Panky" - Abstract Acrylic on 20"x20" gallery canvas - $350

This is the third in my cocktail series.  Hanky Panky is actually a red colored cocktail with an orange twist.  I had such fun painting this with all these luscious colors.

You can purchase the original of this painting in my Etsy shop here

"Pink Martini" Acrylic on Canvas by Marcy Brennan

Pink Martini - 30"x30" Acrylic on Canvas - $750

If you love color as much as I do, then you will LOVE this painting! I was listening to a great new station (to me) on Pandora while painting this called Pink Martini.  It's eclectic and kind of old fashioned French, Italian and piano bar music.  I'd already bought these luscious new magenta colors, so the name simply had to be "Pink Martini".

Ode to Spring - Acrylic Abstract Painting by Marcy Brennan

Ode to Spring - 20"x20" Acrylic on Canvas - $350

This is an acrylic abstract in all the colors of spring.  It has lots of texture and lively brush strokes.

The 3/4" edges are painted black and it is wired and ready to hang.  However, it would look wonderful set in a black floater frame.

Finished Serengeti Series by Marcy Brennan

Here they are all finished!  They are each 16"x20"x1.5" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas - $350 each

I posted my first few layers in my previous post.  These have a few more layers on them.  I did lots of drips, turning the canvases both vertical and horizontal.  I love how the drips give the surface a quality almost like alligator skin.  I guess they're called crocodiles in Africa!  I found a great sunset photo of the Serengeti plains, and it gave me the color palette for this painting.  The first painting is in the Art Mundo loft show entitled "Serengeti" on display there through Sep 2nd.  It's a wonderful show with a lot of artists represented with really nice and varied works/styles.

New Serengeti Abstract Series in Progress by Marcy Brennan

New Serengeti Abstract Series in Progress

I just began a new series today for the Art Mundo Loft Gallery show coming up next month titled "Serengeti".  There are such fantastic sunsets on the Serengeti, I decided to do my abstract paintings in the sunset colors there. Reds, oranges, yellows, and black (for silhouetted trees).  Here are photos of the first few layers at this point.  More to come in the next few days. The black lines in the first layer are really intense because I forgot my black paint and had to borrow from a friend.  All she had was black gesso - it's really strong!

I'm Featured on Saatchi Art's Home Page Again!

Coral Reef 1 - Featured by Saatchi Online Art Gallery

I'm thrilled to again be a featured artist on Saatchi Art's "Affordable Originals Collection" here.

This honor is yet another validation that I'm on the right track with my oil and cold wax paintings!  I love the process and challenge of this medium!

This painting is 20"x20"x2" on a cradled birch panel.  A cradled panel looks like a gallery wrap canvas on the front.  But it's made out of wood, not canvas.  I have left the wood sides natural and just put a few coats of polycrylic on them to protect them.

Wetlands Oil and Cold Wax Abstract by Marcy Brennan

Wetlands, 20" x 20" oil and cold wax on cradled birch board - $950

This painting is one in a series of four 20" x 20" oil and cold wax paintings on cradled birch boards.  The 2" edges of the boards are left natural with a clear protective varnish. They are all abstract designs.  The colors are inspired by the waters and tropical foliage of the Indian River that surrounds the area where I live on Hutchinson Island, FL.  These works have many layers of paint and colors and various types of textures that add depth and interest to the pieces.

Vintage Dream Camper - Kitty Rules by Marcy Brennan

Vintage Dream Camper - Kitty Rules - 5" x 7" watercolor on paper - SOLD - BUY A PRINT HERE

This is the second in my vintage camper series.  I decided to go forward from the 50's to the 70's with my colors.  And a new twist for me is placing something in a fall setting but the fall colors just kind of flowed with the colors of the camper.

Beautiful Country by Marcy Brennan

16" x 20" Oil on Canvas Panel

I painted this in my intuitive oils class.  It's from a photo taken out west of Fort Pierce.  It was an experiment to do a quick warm-up painting in 20-minutes.  I did it all with my right hand (I'm left-handed).  Everyone loved the sky color.  It made such an interesting background for the rest of the scene.  I especially like the more abstract, loose quality of this painting and I may just take to painting "wrong-handed" from now on! ;-)

Sunset On the Indian River Inlet by Marcy Brennan

8" x 10" oil on masonite - SOLD

I painted this last evening from a photo I took while at dinner with friends at a restaurant called On the Edge.  It was a "Chamber of Commerce" picture perfect evening last fall and we were sitting outside right at the water's edge.  I managed to get half a dozen photos as the sun was setting and voila!, here is the painting that resulted.  It was done with a palette knife and I thoroughly enjoyed the lush feel of the oils under the palette knife while doing this piece.

Abstract Circles - #5 by Marcy Brennan

11" x 14" oil on gessoed paper

This is the fifth and last of the abstract circles paintings I did in our intuitive oils class.  I think this was actually the first one I did.  I was going for lots of bright and cheerful colors and I think I managed to get that.

Abstract Circles - #4 by Marcy Brennan

11" x 14" oil on gessoed paper

This is the fourth in the series of abstract circles paintings I did in our intuitive oils class.  OK, so this isn't exactly totally abstract, because as you can see, there is obviously a house in this one, but a very abstract one.  I'm a Realtor, so you'll have to just forgive the bit of representationalism in this one.  I was "feeling" a house coming on as I was playing with circles and color, so I just went with it!

Abstract Circles #3 by Marcy Brennan

11" x 14" oil on gessoed paper

This is the third in a series of abstracts with circles I did in our intuitive oils class.  While I had no intention of there being anything representational in this, two eyes with glasses and a nose is showing up here, at least to me!

Mountainair New Mexico Fall Landscape #1 by Marcy Brennan

9" x 11" oil on Gessoed paper - SOLD

This was a fun and quick abstract landscape I did from photos I took when my husband and I lived in New Mexico.  One crisp and clear fall morning, we took a little day trip southeast of Albuquerque to Mountainair to see a beautiful canyon of maple trees in their fall colors of red and gold.

Mountainair, New Mexico Fall Landscape #2 by Marcy Brennan

9" x 11" Oil on Gessoed Paper

This is the second landscape I did from photos of our trip to Mountainair, New Mexico of the beautiful fall colors in a canyon nearby.

Tuscan Sunflowers by Marcy Brennan

12" x 16" oil on 1.5" deep gallery canvas

Sunflowers are my daughter's favorite flowers so I painted this for her and just never ended up giving it to her.  That's OK, she has lots of my other paintings! ;-)
