"Riverhill" - Original Acrylic on Canvas by Marcy Brennan

Riverhill - 20"x20" acrylic on gallery canvas - $350

There's a beautiful house on our river drive with a huge magenta bougainvillea trellis in the front of the house that inspired this abstract expressionist painting.  The name of the place is Riverhill and that's where I got the name for this painting.

You can purchase the original painting from my Etsy shop here.

"Oceana" - New Acrylic Abstract Mini Series by Marcy Brennan

Oceana Series of Mini's - 6"x6"x1.5" Acrylic on Canvas

$40 each

See the two collages below to see how cool they look together!

First collage is painting number 1-4. Second collage is painting number 5-8.

I've provided a link to my Etsy shop that you can get to by clicking on each individual painting name.

These would look fabulous in a black floater frame in a set of four as shown in the collages.  But they would also look great with just one on a small black table easel or hung on a small wall that needs a little pop of color.

All edges are painted black and are wired and can be hung without a frame.

Let me know what you think of these colorful little paintings.  I had a blast painting them and would love for them to find a home with someone who will love them as much as I loved painting them.

Key West Cottages 1 & 2 - Abstract Expressionist Paintings by Marcy Brennan

Key West Cottages 1 - 36"x24" Acrylic on Canvas - $600

Key West Cottages 2 - 36"x24" Acrylic on Canvas - $600

$600 each or both for $1100

These two paintings start out as abstracts.  Then I began to notice square areas and that's when the cottages started taking place.  They needed some palm trees and flowers, so these two fun an colorful paintings took on a life of their own!

The 1.5" edges are painted black and they are wired and ready to hang without a frame.

"Ancient Ruins" - Acrylic Painting on Canvas by Marcy Brennan

Ancient Ruins - 30"x30"x1.5" Acrylic on Canvas - $750

This began as a totally abstract painting and some ruins emerged as I painted it!
I used to live in New Mexico, and my husband and I visited many ancient Anasazi ruins.
As this painting progressed, it began to remind me of these ruins, thus the name for the piece,
Ancient Ruins.

This was painted on a 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvas with the edges painted black.
It is wired and ready to hang with or without a frame.

Evening Glow - Abstract Expressionist Acrylic Painting by Marcy Brennan

Evening Glow - Abstract Expressionist Acrylic Painting - 40"x30" - $1200

I painted this painting twice!  It's an abstracted impression of my sister's backyard.  She and her family live about 10 miles west of the turnpike off Okeechobee Road in the "country" where cattle graze in idyllic pastures and our famous Indian River citrus grows.  Several months ago, we were out there for dinner, and the sun was setting and casting a beautiful light across their backyard.  I snapped a few photos.  Later, I decided to paint the scene you see in the photo below below.  The first painting was a really bad attempt at a more realistic expression of the scene and not at all what I had in mind.  But there were some beautiful green mixes, so I incorporated those in the more abstract expressionist scene you see above.  It turned out exactly how I had envisioned it.  Sometimes, it takes two paintings to get where we want one painting to end up!

My reference photo of the scene:

Sun Bathers by Marcy Brennan

Sun Bathers - 12"x12" acrylic on canvas - NFS

When I was looking through my photos of beach scenes I'd taken in the past, I came across this one of North Beach that I've used on my real estate website for several years.  I wanted a beach scene to paint as a wedding gift for a young lady I've known since she was a little girl -- my previous pastor's daughter.  They've since moved to Kentucky and a different church, but this young lady fell in love before they left and now they are getting married and she'll be living in Florida again!  Her whole family lived close to the beach and spent lots of time there during the many years they lived on the Treasure Coast.  So happy for Katy and Smith and wish them many happy years together.  Hope they enjoy this painting for a very long time!

New Mini Abstract Series - Malibar

New Mini Abstract Series - Malibar

I'm sharing different color palettes that I've painted a large series of mini abstracts in.  These are all acrylic paintings with a heavy high gloss gel medium mixed into the acrylic, painted with only a palette knife (no brushes).  The gloss gel medium gives them a nice sheen.  The edges are all painted in a medium gray color.

Each 6"x6" painting is $25 each and each 8"x8" painting is $35 each.  I also offer some discounts for multiple purchases and prints of each are available as well.  Please visit my website for more info.

There are so many different ways to hang a grouping of these paintings!  You can even hang them on the diagonal for a really different look.  ;-)  I created a Diptic of all nine of the paintings to give you an idea of how cool they all look together.  (Keep in mind the bottom 3 are larger than the top six, but with prints, you can have all nine printed the same size.)

I'd love to hear how you would use these paintings in a grouping.  Also, if you have a particular set of colors you would like painted in my swirly abstract style, I would be happy to create some especially for you.  Just leave me a comment below.

I have had a blast paintings a number of new series of tiny abstract paintings and will be sharing them with you series by series.  This first series I'm sharing is called Bonita, after Bonita Springs, Florida. Giverny "Remastered" by Marcy Brennan

Giverny "Remastered" - 18"x12"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas - $150

I started out doing an abstract on this canvas that turned into a rose garden that turned into water lilies!  Talk about transformations ;-)  The theme for Sep 2014 in Art Mundo's underground gallery is "Remastered".  Artists were invited to re-create an old master's work.  Since this painting had already sort of morphed into water lilies, I decided to take a look at one of Monet's water lily paintings for which he was famous.  I then used his color palette for this painting.  I really like the way it turned out.  This photo was taken under flourescent lights with my iphone, so a better one will replace it after the show is over.

If you buy this painting, it will be shipped after Oct 1st.

Anasazi - Abstract by Marcy Brennan

Anasazi - 20"x 20" x 3/4" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas - $250

When I finished this painting and stepped back to study it, it really reminded me of the my memories of the cliff dwellings of the ancient Anasazi people in southern Colorado - but colors more of what you would see in a really colorful and cool sunrise there.

Paintings for My Nephew by Marcy Brennan

Paintings For My Nephew

I was recently on Long Island for a National Juried show at East End Arts in Riverhead.  I stayed at my nephew's house for the week I was there and in return for he and his wife's hospitality, I got busy painting a few things for their home.  They didn't really have any art on the walls, so hopefully, this will get them going!  His wife is a certified framer at Michael's, so she will have fun picking out frames for all these, I'm sure.  They are all acrylic 11x14 on canvas.  I had quite a fun time doing these paintings for them and I hope they enjoy them.

Souvenirs of Downtown Day 3

Day three started with rain, clearing, rain, clearing, wind, windy-er, then sunshine.  It was a crazy weather day.  Most of the morning, I spent as much time moving my chair and all my painting stuff back and forth from the sidewalk to the porch of the PP Cobb building for shelter.  But it finally cleared and I was able to get one painting done by 3 pm.
My friend, Judith and I went to Art Mundo and framed our pieces and turned them in by 3:30.  There was a good crowd last night and in total 30 pieces of art sold.  Rather disappointing, when there were 37 artists doing 1-2 paintings per day over three days.  There was some phenomenal art created this week!  The paintings will be at the Backus House through May 7th, so if you didn't make it there this week, there's still time to stop in and see and/or purchase the work.
I was so impressed by the number of people eating at the little general store in the PP Cobb building that I took my husband there today for lunch.  The food is wonderful!!!
Here's my pieces of potted plants, appropriately titled "Potted" and my friend Judith's piece - don't know what she ended up calling it.

"In Living Color" - Solo Show at Art Mundo's Underground Edge Gallery - Wed March 12, 5-8 pm

The photos above is a small sampling of the colorful abstracts I've created for my first solo show!  The show will be up from March 7th to April 1st on The Edge Gallery in the Underground at Art Mundo, 111 Orange Ave, in historic downtown Fort Pierce, FL.  The artist's reception is March 12th from 5:00-8:00 pm.  Food, fun and wonderful art to see and buy!

My show consists of 38 six by six abstracts in the six different color palettes shown above, each selling for $25.  I also have 15 eight by eights in five of these color palettes for $35 each and 4 twelve by twelve's in a few two of these color palettes for $45 apiece.  I also have one larger 24" x 24" abstract in the show.  It is $350.  It was painted in one of the color palettes above - blues/pinks.

At these super low prices, it's a great way to purchase some fabulous pops of color for your home or office.  I hope to sell out this show, but I have 48 more 6x6 canvases coming in the next few months that I'll be posting here, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram at the same price of $25 each.

If you're in the local area, stop in and see me on the 12th!

Here are photos of the show after I hung the paintings Wednesday evening:

Below is a 24" x 24" x 1.5" larger abstract I painted using one of the color palettes from the small paintings, entitled "Whispers" and it's also in this show.
