Embudo, NM - Original Acrylic on Paper by Marcy Brennan

Embudo, NM - 11"x14" acrylic on paper - $80

I used to live in New Mexico and this is one of my favorite areas. It's on the road to Taos from Santa Fe. There was a nice restaurant called Embudo Station set along the river that we would stop at for lunch on our trip. The cottonwoods and hills surrounding the place were simply enchanting. I can't believe I've never painted this all these years.

Think Pink - Acrylic on Paper by Marcy Brennan

Think Pink - Acrylic on 11"x14" Paper - $80

This is a studio painting from a photo I took a few weeks ago while at White City Park plain air painting.  I love my time painting outside on site, but I don't love working in acrylics in the field.  It's simply too much stuff to lug around and the acrylics dry way too fast outside.  I usually work in oils (on very small canvases) or watercolors in the field and work in acrylics in the studio.

This was a fun challenge in mixing the various shades of green in the lovely lily pads.

You can purchase the original of this painting in my Etsy shop here.

Live Simply - Abstract Oil Painting by Marcy Brennan

Live Simply - 5"x7" abstract oil - SOLD

This is another of the abstracts I painted for the 2014 Calendart.  My inspiration was of a photo of a pink flower.

I Kinda Like It - Abstract Oil on Paper by Marcy Brennan

I Kinda Like It - 5" x 7" Abstract Oil on Paper - SOLD

This is another painting I donated to Art Mundo for Calendart 2014.  I used only a palette knife on all these Calendars paintings.  This was lots of fun using some luscious pinks and rose colors.

A Celebration of Color on Artsy Shark Blog

I'm so thrilled to be included in "A Celebration of Color" art collection on the Artsy Shark blog.  This is an incredibly popular art and business blog with tons of followers.  The owner of the blog, Carolyn Edlund, has curated a wonderful mix of art and artists in this collection, and I'm honored to be selected to be a part of it.  My work, an orange and blue cold wax abstraction of a coral reef is the third painting in the collection.  Each of our names has a link to our individual website.  The link to Artsy Shark and this collection is below.  Explore and enjoy!

Ocean Floor - Original Abstract Oil Painting by Marcy Brennan

Ocean Floor - Original 5"x7" Abstract Oil on Paper - SOLD

I painted a series of oil abstracts several years ago for our local art association fundraiser called Calendart.  This is an especially appropriately named painting for what we are going through on Florida's east coast with Hurricane Matthew approaching us.

And at the same time, I'm under the weather and won't be feeling much like painting for awhile.  So my posts for awhile will be of these Calendart paintings that I've never posted before.

I really loved these painting and am kicking myself for not getting a good hi-res scan of them for prints.  Unfortunately, they were all just iPhone photos.  Live and learn!
