This is my second painting for the Virtual Paintout blog for December.  I love old buildings and when I was "walking" around Nitra in my virtual trip via Google Street View, this old building stopped me in my "virtual tracks".  ;-)  I love the angle of the building and the beautiful complimentary colors of blue and orange.  The church in the background was simply perfect.  I had fun with the sky colors - it says happy morning to me!

My nephew Josh has turned both of his parents into avid birders.  Even his mom knew the name of this when I texted her for help.  (Well she could have cheated and asked Jose ;-)).  Josh has thousands of amazing bird photos and he shared a ton of them with me for painting references.  This is from one of his photos.  The background of the photo had lots of busy tree stuff in it, so I simplified it with the orangey-yellow glow that sets off his beautiful blue nicely.  It's called a Budgeriger.  For such a pretty bird, I just know that I could have come up with a prettier name for this little guy--like Blue Beauty! ;-)

I've never been to Slovakia, but from "walking around" in Google Street View, it looks like a beautiful country.  I did this painting for this month's challenge at the virtual paintout blog site.  It looks like the Google crew was there during spring as all the areas of the country I "walked" had beautiful green buds beginning to come out on the trees.

This the first in a series of this particular vintage truck that I will be painting.  It is on the property where a friend of mine lives.  I love the wonderful reflections of shapes and colors that come into play with old vehicles and the lovely rounded shapes.  If I received a good response to this painting, I'll paint more vintage vehicles.

I so love cheesecake!  In reading the book "Wheat Belly", I found that while going wheat-free, I can have cheesecake for breakfast - now that's my kind of diet!  The cheesecake and fruit looked so pretty on my lemongrass colored Fiesta Ware plate one morning I had to paint it!  It's another of my little 4" x 4" watercolors.

This is #8 in my vintage dream camper series!  My idea was to paint one with a shabby chic theme - thus the chandeliers, vintage floral tablecloth on the table, and lots and lots of flowers.  The vintage look isn't complete without a pretty pink bicycle that I tucked partly behind the camper with's its pretty basket of flowers, of course ;-)

This is #6 in my vintage dream camper series.  This one reminds me of the campers they called a canned Spam.  I used a Zentangle pattern for the rug, so that's a new twist for me in this series.

This is #5 in my vintage dream camper series.  The shape of this little beauty really reminded me of the shape of adobe style houses, and so I decided to do it up in a New Mexican theme.  I lived in NM int he late 80s/early 90s, and still miss everything about it!  I incorporated many of the things I love about NM into this little treasure:  hollyhocks, sunflowers, chile ristra, hanging garlics, horno oven, hot air balloon, serape curtains, a little mini-ladder (vs steps) up into the camper, and the cowboy's best-loved coking tool - the dutch oven.  And last but certainly not least--the mountains.  They are what I miss the most about NM. ;-)

White City Park in Fort Pierce, Florida is set on Eleven Mile Creek, or the north fork of the St Lucie River.  Huge oak trees line the river, and I loved capturing this one with its long, flowing streams of moss.  They were so sparkly, I decided to name this piece Tree Jewelry. This one is done with the palette knife in oil on gessoed Bristol paper.

When visiting my daughter in the Atlanta area this summer, we took one of my grandson's friends home after a day at the pool and I couldn't jump out of the car fast enough to get pictures of their beautiful garden!  I so love hydrangeas, but where I live in south Florida, it's too hot to grow them.  It was such a treat to catch their hydrangeas in full bloom as well as the roses!  Their home is a beautiful two-story with a stone front and this added just the perfect backdrop the the wonderful flowers.  I had such fun painting this.  Hope you like it.

I painted this from a photo I took when my husband and I visited Bok Tower, Florida one beautiful spring day.  There is a carillon tower there where the beautiful music from bells plays that can be heard throughout the park.  This was done with oil on gessoed Bristol paper.

I'm always inspired by colors of the water and this one just flowed.  It needed a pop and thus the red circle.  Reminded me of hearts beating.  Thus the name.  I did 3 more smaller abstracts in same colors with the red heart beat and will be posting them over the next few days.

Lettuce Lake, Tampa, Florida by Marcy Brennan

This is a view from a small tower set out over the edge of Lettuce Lake, a beautiful state park in north Tamps, FL. I was there visiting my brother for  his birthday in February - we had wonderful, spring-like weather, and the azaleas were out in full force at the park entrance.  I took dozens of photos, but this one scene really spoke to me.  I did this with a palette knife - no brushes, so there's lots of thick, juicy paint on this one.

My sister-in-law home schools their son, and he's been interested in photography for quite a long time.  She brings him here each month to photograph the changes in the lake and foliage.  What a wonderful idea!  Many daily painters I've seen paint the same scene they see from their home or studio each day to capture the changing weather, etc.  I hope they keep it up.  It would make great art for a calendar for 2013.  I would want one for sure!
