Joyful Flowers by Marcy Brennan

Joyful Flowers - 7" x 5" watercolor and ink on paper - SOLD

This is another little vignette scene I painted from a photo I took at Renninger's Antiques Extravaganza in Mount Dora, FL.  Love the French flower pots.  I think the flowers are called dianthus.  The pot to the right actually had dying flowers in it, so I put my favorite - red geraniums - in it.  I'm happy with the outcome!

Geranium Happiness by Marcy Brennan

Geranium Happiness - 7" x 5" watercolor and ink on paper

This little scene is part reality and part imagination.  I shot the photo at Renninger's Antiques Extravaganza in Mount Dora while there in January with my sister-in-law.  We had such a wonderful weekend! There were lots of pretty little vignettes in front of the shops, but the flowers were a bit "iffy" and the background was pretty boring, so I took a bit of artistic license with them.   I kept some of the ferns and added a pot of yellow flowers and a window with French blue shutters in the background with sort a stucco wall.  Here's my reference photo:

Future Paintings

Future Paintings

Until I am lucky enough to retire and paint full-time, I'm always on the lookout for great reference photos when I'm coming and going to show houses in my real estate business.
My husband and I always take the road along the Indian River on our way south from Fort Pierce to Port St. Lucie called, you guessed it, Indian River Drive.  There are no traffic lights, and you can make pretty good time.  But I'd take it anyway for the sheer beauty along the way!

I'm always torn between looking at our wonderful river and the gorgeous homes along "the drive."  I've passed this one home hundreds of times wishing I had my "good" camera to get this incredible bougainvilla and plumbago in bloom.  It seems they are always in bloom!  Last evening, I finally remembered my good camera and stopped along the small spit of land on the river side of the street to snap this photo on my way home.  I may go into my studio this evening and paint this scene!  It's really calling to me. ;-)

Here's a photo I took on Easy Street on the way to show a house to my customers.
It's another gorgeous magenta bougainvilla in bloom.

While sitting in my car waiting for my customers, I zoomed in on this pink hibiscus bush in front of the house.  It was the only "pretty" thing in the yard ;-).  I like the clapboard look to the house - it makes it look kind of cottage-y, even though it doesn't look that way overall - but it will be nice in a painting.

Another "lazy" shot from my car of the foliage at the house next door to the one I was showing.  Love the chartreuse bushes again the magenta bougainvilla and the cute turquoise house.  I will need to work on the composition and short of "pretty" it up in my painting of this little scene.

Moonlight Garden by Marcy Brennan

Abstract - Moonlight Garden - 11" x 9" Acrylic on Gessoed Bristol paper

This piece is an abstracted moonlight landscape I did at our local art group's open paint night.  I so love getting together with other artists to paint.  It's very inspiring to get up every now and then and walk around and check out what other artists are doing.  We had a good sized group that evening so the conversation was lively!

Abstract Rose Garden by Marcy Brennan

Abstract Rose Garden - 9" x 11" acrylic on gessoed Bristol paper

I love painting abstracts!  I did this painting one night at our local open paint art group.  It was such a nice, relaxing evening painting and chatting with fellow artists.  Nobody wanted to leave and go home that night, we were having so much fun.

$100 - email me if you are interested in this painting

The Red Mailbox by Marcy Brennan

The Red Mailbox - 5" x 7" watercolor and ink on paper - SOLD - BUY A PRINT

This was such a bucolic scene I found in my virtual walk thru Google street view for this month's Virtual Paintout blog in Lido di Jesolo Italy.  It had what looked like a mailbox at the end of the drive and I decided a pop of red would be just the finishing touch, thus the name for this little piece!  This is why I love painting over photography - I can use "artistic license" when I want to.  But I suppose Photoshop has made that possible for photographers now too ;-)

Lush Italian Garden by Marcy Brennan

Lush Italian Garden - 5" x 7" watercolor on paper - SOLD - BUY A PRINT

I absolutely loved this private little pond with lush plants all around it in my virtual walk thru Google street view for this month's Virtual Paintout blog.  I used a lot of more opaque colors in this piece than I normally do because the scene just sort of called for it.

Italian Farm - 5" x 7" watercolor and ink on paper - SOLD - BUY A PRINT

What a colorful veggie patch I found in my virtual walk in Google street view.  I did this for this month's Virtual Paintout in Lido di Jesolo, a province of Venice in northern Italy.
