12" x 12" oil on canvas panel
More from my water lily series. I wanted to do a bit more of an abstract scene for this one, so I took one of Arlene Brooks' beautiful photos and cropped it down to simplify the scene into color and form while still letting the viewer know what the subject matter is referring to. I loved the purple flower against the green of the lily pad, and that's what makes this a serene painting overall, but that "pop" of firey yellow on the leaf and small area of the throat of the flower adds just a touch of vibrancy and excitement to the painting.
